Britta SteinkeWhile much scholarly attention has already been paid to some of the various phenomena of affectionate language – for example pet names and diminutive constructions – the same cannot yet be claimed for affectionate language as such. The author of this volume is the first to present a theory of affectionate modes of speaking, grounding it empirically using a corpus study of Chilean Spanish.
